To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. -Emerson-
It is hard for some to have a positive self image in today’s world. There is pressure all over to look a certain way. Having had an eating disorder myself, I understand the struggle that my patients have. While working on my recovery I found hope and serenity and that is what I hope to share with those I help.
I am a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I received my Bachelors of Science from Union College and my Masters of Science in Nursing from Creighton University. I am currently working on my post graduate certificate in eating disorders. It is my goal to increase awareness, education, and prevention strategies across the region. My level of compassion with my patients is very high as we share something sensitive. With my personal experience, compassion and expertise, I believe my patients will feel right at home.
I am married to my amazing husband Dan, and I have the most wonderful 12 year old daughter. I love to fish, spend time outside with nature, and spend quality family time together. I cherish the patients I work with and they are just as big a part of my journey as I am of theirs.

We're surrounded by messages to 'be better, do better, look better, feel better'...the list goes on. To just 'be' --the concept of 'enough' --seems impossible for so many of us...and I've been there...the constant struggle for perfection has a grip like no other. When I 'surrendered'--and understood that I was in-fact enough, outside of any number on the scale, image in the mirror, makeup on my face, letters behind my name, title, role, or goal--in God's image, who He created me to be--it was then that I realized my story was just beginning...the pages could finally turn.
I am a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practicioner and am also a Certified Health Coach. I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Education and Human Sciences with an emphasis in Psychology and Commuinication Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I earned my Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Doane University with a field experience in Neuropsychology and Medical Rehabilitation Counseling.
In addition to providing a safe place for others to find health and recovery, I truly strive to raise awareness and remove the stigma that accompanies mental health illness. In addition to speaking across the State of Nebraska to shed light on the above while bringing resources to our rural-communities, it is my great honor to connect with others and walk alongside of them and their families as they take the brave steps to LIVE.
Beyond my work in therapy, I also serve as a support professional in prenatal/postpartum care as a Labor Support Assistant (Doula). I love babies, childbirth, and the sacred space that exists with new life!
I have a 4 year old son, Jax Forrest, who is my greatest miracle. I reside in rural Saline County where I find peace in spending time on the farm and taking in the flatland sunsets. In addition to being a ‘gravel road gal’, I am a writer, and ultimately, my daily mission is to help others to not only find their voice...but to use it.
We're better together--don't you think? We get one shot at this thing--this life earthside--and so many of us try to do it alone...when truly, we're meant to be in community--arms locked, hands held--it's not just about survival--it's about LIVING. -Carli Israelson-
